Anderson's rebound control is just terrible right now. Far too many easy tap ins for pucks he should be directing to the corner or catching.
Too bad he can't be sent to the Marlies for a couple of games to get some confidence.
Alternatively bring back Winnik, Grabner, Froese, Boyes, Mattthias and all of those stiffs from last year's team that couldn't score. That will get him feeling good.

Positive:
Matthews on pace for 136 points = 1.66 PPG
Nylander on pace for 123 points = 1.5 PPG

Negative:
Andersen on pace to let in 314 goals = 3.8 goals per game.

Seems pretty reasonable to me.

You think Andersen will recover? A couple more of those games and he's looking at Toskola/Bernier territory

Good point ricearoni. I think he's the first goalie to poop the bed 5 out of 6 starts coming off an injury and starting with a new team. Pretty sure no top end starting goalie has ever had a bad season and come back to play well either.

Leafs offense is doing a great job. Even more than I expected.

But defensively? There's no way this group will keep the Leafs competitive this year.

I'm no goalie expert, but I've played the position for a while and I'm usually decent at evaluating goaltenders.

Andersen needs to work on his lateral movements (so he goes where he needs to to cover his angles and not just slide all over the place getting out of position), try and battle more to see the puck (stay down low, ready to move), not fall down on his knees so quick, improve his reads on plays... so many things to work on right now.... I get to see him much more with him playing for the Leafs and his performances so far have been.... scary considering the investment made in him.

But... it's only 6 games....

I think the leafs need to start scoring more goals than their opponent. Their current strategy of scoring less goals than their opponent is not working out so far. I know Babcock is considered one of the best coaches in the world but it just doesn't seem like he knows what he's doing right now. He should use his Team Canada strategy of scoring more goals than the opponent imho. I'm not an expert though.

no one should be booing Stamkos... he made a choice.

by the same token... he should have gotten a penality for hitting Carrick from behind - it wasn't a viscious hit by any stretch... but totally in the numbers.

You are correct on both accounts. The booing was embarrassing.

Exactly. Its embarrassing to see people booing Stammer. He's awesome and he always lights up the leafs...but really who hasnt the past 5 years. Booing him cause he didnt sign here is foolish.

But 7 goals...jesus.

Also booing a guy because he chose to take the same money, with no taxes, in a sunny and beautiful area, with no media presence, that happens to be one of the best teams in the game and considered one of the best run teams in the league. A team on the cusp of a Cup. Over the worst team in the league. Oh...and they drafted him.
